FYI, You Can Attend Creator Economy Schools Now
The creator economy is growing, and so are the opportunities! It's easier than ever to get started with online tools and in-person courses.
As the creator economy continues to expand, it is gaining more recognition and resources, which in turn is giving the sector greater credibility and professional respect.
Being a creator is a relatively new profession. Whether you are an artist, musician or writer, having talent is just the beginning. You also need to learn how to use platforms, grow an audience, and monetize your skills. Beyond mastering these aspects, there’s immense value in collaborating and networking with other creators.
With that being said, creators’ needs are finally being recognized, and companies are being created to serve creators both digitally and in person.
Whalar, a creator and talent management company, is launching The Lighthouse, a space for creators to learn, produce content and collaborate with peers. This will take place on physical campuses, starting in Brooklyn, NY, and Venice, CA, offering a four-year membership program.
Each campus will be complete with lecture halls, audio and video production spaces, dining areas and outdoor spaces. Members will be able to create and edit content on campus, as well as take courses niche to a creator. This includes maximizing an e-commerce strategy, using AI, and navigating taxes and legal as a creator.
There are also digital resources becoming readily available to creators. For example, Andreessen Horowitz created The New Creator Stack, a suite of tools dedicated to making it easier for creators to ideate, produce and share their work. If you scroll through their website, you will find all types of resources, from AI-powered platforms for creating images to distribution platforms for monetizing content, such as Substack. You can also explore options for merchandise, marketplaces, accounting and finances. The goal is to promote creativity and independence for creators.
Successful creators have also made it their mission to help other creators get started. Jimmy Donaldson, who you may know as MrBeast, partnered with East Carolina University (ECU) to create a training program for students who want to work in the creator industry. The program will cover both technical and creative aspects of producing YouTube content, as this is MrBeast’s most successful platform. Students will earn a certified microcredential and trained to be successful entry-level workers to creator companies.
It’s about time these resources and educational opportunities emerge. The creator economy is estimated to be a $250 billion industry and could approach half-a-trillion dollars by 2027. These programs and resources will encourage more people to enter the creator space and, hopefully, teach more creators how to thrive.
We have an exciting column about how to grow in the creator economy coming soon, so stay tuned and subscribe to learn more!

How interesting. I learned about MrBeast just a few weeks ago from a precocious 10 year old who had actually posed alongside the net celeb. Hard to believe it's a $250 billion market, but I understand he is a phenomenon. Best!
