Hi folks,
If you are like us and feel like 2022 has already given us more to think about than all of 2021, then you might be taking bit of a break this summer enjoying the days and not getting too ahead of yourself on what is to come.
We certainly are. And because of this thought, instead of writing a story this week we decided we would aggregate four articles you might be interesting in reading. Without too much to think about.
Creator Economy
First, the creator economy. It seems like this area is acting like an ostrich burying its head in the sand saying all is well, nothing has changed! But we have noted a lot has changed, even if the party still keeps going like it is 1999 for some of the creator companies.
Sure looks like a shakeout is looming because there are lots more creators and less and less customers that haven’t paid for play yet. We thought the following article would be very useful as it outlines what one might do to try and get customers in a really tough market.
Sustainable Planet
Second, with another hot summer, drought throughout the world and gas prices rising, it doesn’t seem like there is much hope for a sustainable planet right now.
We even heard in North Carolina some politicians are lobbying to ban electric charging stations unless they offer free gas! Talk about sticking your head in the sand.
However, there is a real hope on the horizon and the United States just has to get its act in gear like Britain and China have for wind power. This article from noted New Yorker environmentalist Bill Mckibben says with the technological advancements that have happened with wind power, there are now projects in Britain to create electric power at one quarter the price of gas! Let’s say that again… although the United States hasn’t caught up yet.
Watch out for Texas, they could be the boom place for it here.
Texas’ now is an environmental-friendly alternative to using natural gas that can be done for 25 cents versus one dollar produced by gas. Maybe if we ramp this up fast like Britain and China have been doing, we will be out of this worrisome dependence on Russian natural gas before we know it! Hope spring’s eternal!
CRISPR Genetic Engineering
If you have been reading our pieces each week, you have probably noticed a lot of news on CRISPR medical approaches. They are upending traditional medical approaches and disease prevention instead of allowing it to progress and then treating.
Well guess what, all you high cholesterol patients, your first process to change this just started this week. Instead of medication that might have side effects on the liver and other organs, a gene-editing approach is being tested. Let’s hope there aren’t many side effects on this way!
Artificial Intelligence
Finally, be careful what you ask for and what we have talked about.
By this we mean artificial intelligence breakthroughs at every higher level of intelligence. Looks like we are at the point where AI can compete to publish academic articles, or articles that human editors deem worthy of publishing in journals meant to expand the knowledge base of the best and the brightest.
The GPT-3 process was used to do this and is very close to using it’s machine learning to computer with the human learning experience. Well, well, well… we might not be the best and the brightest alone much longer.
Hope these four articles keep you at the forefront of the barbecue dinner discussions this week. Drop us a note if you have any comments on them that we can all use!
