Are you ready to try something new?
Although we don’t know much about dating in the metaverse, we must admit we have received quite a few comments about this. Naturally, we decided to do some research on it. Here are some factors to consider as you decide whether or not to try it.
First, we wanted to check and see if this topic has been one discussed in Redditt. And, yes, this topic has not just been commented on recently, but has seen an explosion of people talking about it.
As a matter of fact, one study mentioned there has been almost a 250 percent increase in searches about virtual dating over the past six months. Interviews with those who have met and dated first in the metaverse state the playfulness and dating does not just progress to only in-person dating, but stays that dates keep occurring in the metaverse.
One other fact that surprised us is that the number of couples who double date in the metaverse is much higher than in real life, even though the couples might not have ever met in real life.
Second, we always love to hear first-hand experiences of something new. In a Vice article “I Tried to Find a Date in the Metaverse,” Ross Buchanan takes his readers through what he liked and didn’t like about dating in the the metaverse. The funniest part of the article is when Buchanan divulges he is married and told his wife he was thinking of dating in the metaverse as the basis of a freelance article to which she replied, “I’m ordering a pizza.” He saw this as a sign she either didn’t care or thought it would go so bad she might as well enjoy her favorite food while the craziness ensued. The article then goes through the whole process he has of dating on a variety of sites and is left with plenty of questions, but also plenty of curiosity.
We couldn’t leave a well-researched article on dating in a new way without telling our readers how to do it and what might be the appropriate way to dress for success. Well, believe or not, if you are on Match, Tinder or Bumble, you don’t have to go anywhere else. They have already announced ways to date in the metaverse, including beta testing approaches. Nevermet and Planet Theta are two new sites you might want to explore.
So, are you ready to create your metaverse avatar? Well, if so, below we’ve linked a Fortune magazine article interviewing a 22-year-old on how to create one. But don’t worry, there are plenty of sites to help you with that. Have fun with the design, feel comfortable with someone seeing it and take a bit of a risk!
