I'll Have a Metaverse Burger with that Neon Jumpsuit
What will shopping look like in the metaverse?
If you are like me, you might remember what mail order shopping was before the internet. Your mailbox would be filled with wonderful catalogs from various companies with an order form to return by mail or, if really advanced, a toll-free number to call in your order and credit card for.
Then along came the internet, and in the 1990s not many, if anyone at all, would have told you how it was going to be used for e-commerce.
Well, where are we in regards to shopping and setting up retail stores in the metaverse? And how does status, shopping for ourselves or our virtual avatar, or getting our friends to shop with us work in the metaverse?
Not many good scaleable answers are there yet, but as the following article implies, it might be time to try some or watch what others are doing. Chances are most of the ways we will do this aren’t even invented yet, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of some of the companies trying various approaches. Something should come along, such as Amazon, that could take a big bite out of the way we shop, eat and entertain ourselves now on the internet.
See you next issue…
Best, Craig
