Dear Soft Launch Community,
It’s hard to believe we launched Don’t Count Us Out Yet three months ago with the purpose of helping readers understand the main areas in tech and science that will drive progress in the next 10 years.
We didn’t see ourselves as a one-stop provider with all the information you need to know in our main six areas- CRISPR, crypto, creator economy , metaverse, sustainable planet and artificial intelligence. Rather, we saw this newsletter as a foundation where good journalistic reporting might help professionals understand the pros and cons in an easy-to-read way.
We have made a ton of progress with the help of Ariana Dimitrakis, our editor in charge, Stacey Johnstone, our satire researcher, Julia D’Apolito, who is joining us this summer to get our articles to the right people, and Jeffrey Yudkoff, our admin person, whom I first met 40 years ago where he invited me to go around the world with him. We still haven’t done it, but he has kept the internal workings of most entrepreneurial projects I have created moving in the right direction, and we’ve made a ton of progress.
From that single article three months ago, written in a normal way people could read, we now produce weekly articles on issues in the six areas mentioned above, a monthly podcast, our own opinion pieces and satire memes that get underneath the issues in a different manner.
Thank you all, especially the Don’t Count Us Out Yet team, and those who have taken the time to talk to us or write back. I hope many more of you do so in the months to come.
And at this point in the three month update, I was ready to wow you with our new areas we were going to introduce such as polling, follow-up pieces, and guest opinions. That was until I read this piece below last week, which stopped me in our tracks on how to move forward. The article “How the Power of Simplicity can Improve your Life” made me realize that our original plan of expanding by doing more was the worst possible approach. We would just join the hundreds of other creator economy experts in areas claiming to help you in some manner, shape or form, but in reality are just adding to your inbox.
Instead of helping you enjoy your life with some simple, short articles you enjoy reading, if we chose to expand this way, it would be like asking you to read your new coffee maker’s entire instructions manual that will take 2 hours away from your desire to enjoy a cup for five minutes a day. As a matter of fact, I had to ask myself if we have become one of them.
Therefore, we are going to simplify our approach and what we give you.
Each week, you will receive one article, short and sweet, that is written in a way you should understand. Additionally, at the end of every week you will get a list of possible upcoming articles we can write about where you can let us know what you are interested in reading next.
That is more than enough of your time and thanks in advance. I hope you will continue to give us five minutes or so to read the article and a few more minutes to write back on what you might like to have us to work on. Part of the goal is not keeping the information to the experts because it is “too complicated.” We need your help and feedback to get this right, so please, please if you enjoy our posts, like, share or write back when appropriate. No matter how well we think we are doing, we can’t do this without you.
Best, Craig Gordon for anyone who does not want to be counted out yet.
