The Era of Artificial Intelligence Entanglement Has Arrived
... and most professionals don't even know it.

In January 2015, Wait But Why blogger Tim Urban posted two graphs regarding the stages we experience in the human progress curve with artificial intelligence. The first graph is where he thought we were then.
He also surmised that very soon we would be here, on a huge logarithmic, non-linear expansion, where most people wouldn’t understand what is happening.
At Don’t Count Us Out Yet, we believe we have reached this stage based on AI progress in the past six months.
To prove our point, consider the following three examples of what AI is currently capable of.
First, a few years back, many people in the manufacturing and operational areas of our economy thought AI would start to replace human repetitive tasks, perhaps to the point where 20-30% of the operational workforce could be eliminated. Well, that thought has already eclipsed with China’s launch of the crew-less naval destroyer ship and more breakthroughs happening in manufacturing processes that we didn’t expect.
Second, with the release of DALL-E-2, creative artists, architects and designers no longer need to resort to stock photos or create new ones by themselves. The DALL-E-2 process takes text messages and comes up with new images on its own. The process was used by an artist to win the gold medal for creative art at the Colorado state fair, prompting a huge debate on what role AI should play in original art.
Finally, Google Health’s expansion of medical health of AI in Care Studio is set to organize patient data in a way that will provide the right information at the right time to medical professionals. This will replace the use of large sets of data to improve medical outcomes and make more right decisions.
We could go on and on with more examples, but let’s just say it is mind boggling what we see. Now we want to give you three main trends non-tech professionals and students must grasp.
1. By understanding all the parts of proteins, drug discoveries are going to multiply more than ten fold in the next few years with lots of direct genetic approaches. Biden’s war on cancer could actually work!
2. Creative professionals now have a non-human equivalent process that not only does what the creator does better and faster, but comes up with original thoughts and questions that the creator has yet to think of.
3. AI processes can now become a major factor in sustainability, climate change and environmental issues due to its predicative analysis function. Of course major problems still exist, such as AI fully understanding languages and the context in which they are used, but they are getting better and better. Soon these processes will be able to create and answer questions we haven’t thought about.Â
If this isn’t enough for you to expand your mind as it did ours regarding the future is now, then guess what? A new, better process GPT-4 is due to release very soon. Although we know very little about it, it is very likely to be able to imitate the human brain.
Look out for a podcast on this subject in October for more easy-to-understand explanations. Additionally, as we stated when we started this newsletter, we are dedicated to explain to you some of these huge advancements and ways you can get involved.
